Meet Sarah
Well of Being is based on a commitment to the compassionate pursuit of mental wellbeing. Through a basic understanding of human nature, I believe anyone can realise their true resilience, and mental clarity.
I believe my experience working with a wide variety of people with mental health struggles, combined with my own personal transformation from 15 years of struggling to a life of wellbeing and contentment, makes the service I offer at Well of Being so special. My years of expert knowledge combined with a passion for innate health create a uniquely thoughtful and compassionate coaching service.
Where it started...
I started my career as a podiatrist and practiced within the NHS before life took some unexpected turns which helped me to see my passion lay in working with people who are experiencing emotional and psychological distress, particularly those experiencing a difficult relationship with food, weight, and size.
I returned to university to qualify as a Relational Counsellor, later gaining accreditation with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I went on to train as a Counsellor for Depression and Compassion Focused Therapist as well as an EMDR therapist.
After several years offering therapy to a wide variety of clients including survivors of Rape and Sexual Assault, I have been fortunate to experience many years working in Mental Health teams in the NHS.
Having worked for many years as a therapist in NHS Mental Health Services, most recently a NHS Specialist Eating Disorder Service, I now dedicate my time to clients in my therapy and coaching business, Well of Being.
In more recent years, I have been immensely grateful to have been introduced to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) after learning about the 3 Principles understanding.
I have trained in the ACT model with Russ Harris and am a Certified Change Coach and mentor, having trained with Dr Amy Johnson PhD. From this perspective, supported by many years of experience as a therapist, I support clients just like you to move beyond the limitations of their mind and to step into a life that is fuelled by what is meaningful, significant and important to you.
The less formal 'me'...
Hello and welcome. I absolutely love my work and feel privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside so many people rediscovering their resilience and wellbeing.
I live in Castleford, West Yorkshire, with the loves of my life – my partner and our 3 terriers. The dogs are my constant companions and feet warmers when working from home.
I love to be out in the fresh air walking with the dogs or running. I especially love to be in the mountains in our camper van with my feet up listening to the sound of rain!
Having recovered from 15 years of Anorexia Nervosa, I see how precious life and wellbeing is. My own recovery, and an understanding of how humans work, guide me in my coaching and have shown me that anyone has the capacity to experience life differently.
I am blessed with amazing friends and family who I love going to the theatre and eating out with.
I am also partial to a lazy day on the sofa snuggling with the dogs.
Life is for living – right now, in this moment.
